Description:

The first was composed in 1827 and published after Schubert's death, and the second was written around the same time and published during his lifetime. Both are large works exceeding 40 minutes in length, but the character of the music is quite different, with the bright No. 1 and the profound No. 2. Notturno" in E-flat major, written around the same time, is a beautiful, relaxed little piece of about 10 minutes. It is believed to have been conceived as a movement of some other piece. B-flat major, D28, was written by a 15-year-old. It has a powerful atmosphere, as if the young Schubert's musical ideas were bursting out of him. The three musicians, Irnberger (born in 1985), Geringas (born in Lithuania in 1946), and Korstik (born in 1955), sang each piece to great effect. Naxos Japan
