Vandini, Antonio (1690-1778)
Description:
A master cellist of Tartini's era. Vandini's masterpiece, a collection of cello sonatas! Antonio Vandini (1691-1778) was a cellist, composer, and monk active in Padua, Bergamo, and Venice, and is said to have served the Kinsky family in Prague with his contemporary Tartini. He is also known to have maintained a close relationship with the rare composer/violinist, welcoming Tartini to his home in 1769. The charm of Vandini's masterpieces, which have been hidden in the shadow of Vivaldi and Tartini, will be widely known through the excellent performance by the virtuoso musicians of his hometown. Antonio Mostacci, cello, is a Bolognese virtuoso who plays with the Tyrol Festival Orchestra in Austria. In this collection of Vandini sonatas, he uses a five-string piccolo cello made by G.F. Leompolli around 1750. Tokyo M-Plus
