In 1915, when this bank was produced by Kenton Hardward Manufacturing Co, the Woolworth Building was the tallest building in the world. It had been completed just two years earlier, located at at 233 Broadway in lower Manhattan, designed by Cass Gilbett as the headquarters for F.W. Woolworth Co. So at the time it was produced, this gold painted cast iron bank would have been quite the current thing, marking the soaring achievement of 792 feet worth of skyscraper! Now, a great piece of New York architectural history, and nice addition to a tabletop skyline or still bank collection.
